Spontaneous Rupture of Adrenal Metastasis from Hepatocellular Carcinoma
نویسندگان
چکیده
taneous rupture of adrenal tumor, such as pheochromocytoma, adrenal cortical carcinoma and adrenal myelolipoma. To the best of our knowledge, there has been only one case of adrenal metastatic tumor that caused spontaneous rupture (1). Because most extrahepatic hepatocellular carcinomas occur in patients with an advanced intrahepatic tumor stage, the first manifestation as spontaneous rupture of adrenal metastasis may be extremely rare (2). We report here on a patient who presented with spontaneous rupture of a huge adrenal metastasis as the initial manifestation, and the patient had a small primary hepatocellular carcinoma in his noncirrhotic liver.

primary malignant tumor of the liver. Extrahepatic metastasis can occur through hematogeneous metastasis, lymphatic extension and direct invasion (1). The incidence of spontaneous rupture of primary HCC has been reported to be up to 14.5% (2, 3). However, rupture of the metastatic lesions of HCC is very rare. We report here on a case of massive retroperitoneal hemorrhage due to spontaneous rupt...

Adrenal gland pseudocysts are not common conditions, and most of them are nonfunctional and asymptomatic. However, large pseudocysts may causes abdominal discomfort and have compressive effects on adjacent organs. They may rupture spontaneously or after trauma, and lead to retroperitoneal hemorrhage and surgical emergency. Herein, we report a case of 21-year-old female who presented with acute ...

Kaohsiung J Med Sci August 2005 • Vol 21 • No 8 371 Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignancy of the liver, with extrahepatic metastasis typically found during disease progression [1,2]. Edmondson and Steiner reported from autopsy findings that the adrenal gland is the second most common site for metastasis, secondary to the lung [3]. Clinically, however, HCC metastas...
متن کاملSpontaneous Rupture of Renal Metastasis from Hepatocellular Carcinoma
We report a rare life-threatening case of spontaneous rupture of renal metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) that was managed by emergent transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE). A 76-year-old woman diagnosed with HCC presented with acute back pain in her right side and was transferred to our hospital. Initial enhanced computed tomography revealed retroperitoneal hemorrhage from the ...
متن کاملA Spontaneously Ruptured Hepatic Metastasis From a Gastric Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor That Presented as Hemoperitoneum
Spontaneous hepatic hemorrhage is a rare condition that may be caused by an underlying hepatic tumor, most commonly hepatocellular carcinoma or hepatic adenoma. A spontaneous rupture of a hepatic metastasis from a gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor is also extremely rare, and the majority of affected patients present with hypovolemic shock or an acute abdomen. In this article, we report the...
